Why the pill don't cure your PCOS

The birth control pill (oral contraceptive pill) is a common treatment for some of the symptoms of PCOS, such as irregular periods and acne. However, it does not cure PCOS.

The birth control pill contains synthetic versions of estrogen, which help “regulate” menstrual cycles and reduce androgen levels in the body. This can improve some of the symptoms of PCOS, such as irregular periods, acne, and excessive hair growth.

However, the birth control pill does not address the underlying hormonal imbalances that cause PCOS, and it does not prevent the development of cysts on the ovaries. In addition, the pill may not be the best option for all women with PCOS, especially those who are trying to conceive.

Treatment for PCOS typically involves a combination of lifestyle changes, such as diet and exercise, to help regulate menstrual cycles, reduce androgen levels, and improve fertility. It's important for women with PCOS to work closely with a healthcare provider who specializes in fertility and reproductive health to develop a personalised treatment plan that is tailored to their individual needs.
